Earlier this year, I was in an exhibition entitled Surveying the Vault: Selections from the Permanent Collection at the Crossman Gallery on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Some of the other artists in the show included Kathe Kollwitz, Andy Warhol, Philip Pearlstein, Judy Chicago and Alfred Leslie.
While looking at art books at my local library, I came across ArtWorks: The Progressive Collection. I have five paintings and three drawings in this collection, which Forbes magazine ranks as one of the best corporate art collections in the world.
ArtWorks: The Progressive Collection is the first major book in which I have appeared. The foreword to the book was written by Nobel Prize- and Pulitzer Prize-winning American novelist Toni Morrison. Among her best known novels are The Bluest Eye, Sula, Song of Solomon, and Beloved.
Some other artists in the collection include Vito Acconci, John Cage, Christo, Richard Diebenkorn, Helen Frankenthaler, Philip Guston, Jenny Holzer, Elsworth Kelly, Wolfgang Laib, Sol Lewitt, Robert Mangold, Brice Marden, Claes Oldenburg, Martin Puryear, Richard Serra, Joel Shapiro, Donald Sultan, Wayne Thiebaud, Richard Tuttle, and Cy Twombly.
