My first sale to a corporation
in Europe took place in May. The Wellcome Trust in London purchased 5
white ink on slate paintings from the X-ray series. The building at 183
Euston Road is currently undergoing a 20 million pound redesign and refurbishment,
and will be the Wellcome Trust's "public face" devoted to exploring science,
history and the culture of medicine. The facility is due to open in late
2006. While the main floor will include galleries where my work will be
displayed, the second floor will house the internationally renowned Wellcome
Library, the worlds largest devoted to the history of medicine. The library
includes such disparate material as an ancient Egyptian medical prescription,
Van Gogh's only etching, a first edition of Gray's Anatomy, and the papers
of Francis Crick-co-discoverer of the structure of DNA. |
